Update 2/11

Things are moving so quickly right now.

Pathology reports came back last night. We are looking at a diagnosis of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma. Dr. Meeker is hopeful we can call it Stage 1, Group 3 (sarcomas are the only type of cancer that have group components to their staging), but that will depend on the results of the CT scan showing us if the cancer is located anywhere in his body other than his eye (orbit).

Des will go in for a CT and bone scan tomorrow morning. We should be out by noon, and we'll have a meeting with his oncologist at 2:45 tomorrow afternoon to discuss his treatment plan. Dr. Meeker would like to do a lymph node biopsy. If the biopsy comes back positive, that will call for a much more intense treatment plan. Please focus all of your positive thoughts and prayers that a lymph node biopsy comes back negative. He will have surgery to get his port on Thursday afternoon. We don't know yet when chemo will start.

A lot of people have offered to help. Right now we don't know what help we need. But when we do, we will ask, I promise.
